Fixing Orbry Boards Externally

Tile backer boards have a number of uses including waterproofing, insulating and creating a level surface for tiling. This makes them extremely useful for a number of installations throughout the home, for example in bathrooms, wet rooms, mud rooms, conservatories and kitchens. Not only is it handy for these internal installations, Orbry Board can also be used externally on patios, balconies and terraces, among other applications.

When fixing Orbry tile backer boards externally, the minimum thickness of board you should be using is 20mm. Orbry Board is available in a range of thicknesses from 6mm to 50mm. The boards must be both mechanically fixed, using stainless steel screws and washers, and all joints must be taped. There are a number of uses for Orbry Board externally, including on walls prior to rendering, as insulation in garages and outbuildings, and with a suitable adhesive & grout in swimming pools.

Orbry Board is available in a range of sizes, including long and short boards, in the Orbry Shop. Don’t forget to register as an Orbry Certified Fixer to get the best prices.
