Can I Install Underfloor Heating Over an Orbry Shower Tray?

This is a common question, and the simple answer is yes. Orbry electric underfloor heating can be installed over Orbry shower trays, however we would not recommend it. Each Orbry wet room former has a built in fall which helps the water flow towards the drain. This slope is maintained during tiling which can prove difficult once the underfloor heating mat and adhesive or self levelling compound are added.

Installing underfloor heating in the shower area is also often seen as unnecessary, as the heat from the shower will warm the floor when it is in use. In wet rooms, underfloor heating is used to help evaporate surface water from floors, but the falls of the shower tray should help water drain away in shower area.

We do not recommend installing Orbry underfloor heating over your shower tray, however if you do decide to do so check the flow rate of your shower as the change in the falls of the tray may affect the flow of water it can handle.
